Day 7: Discover the ancient Dutch history

Day 8: Its all about beaches and turtles

Unawatuna is one of the biggest tourist destinations in Sri Lanka and is the most “famous” beach in the country. It is a lovely banana-shaped beach of golden sand and turquoise water, surrounded by green palm trees.

The centre gets the eggs off the beaches where they’re vulnerable to predators and poachers, hatches them and then cares for them until they’re released a few days after hatching. The centre houses the babies in giant tanks of seawater until it’s time and if your first reaction on seeing the tanks full of paddling baby turtles is to squeal loudly, you’re definitely not alone.

Day 9: Tour around Colombo

Independence Square is one of the most vital and historical monuments in the city of Colombo. It was built to commemorate the country’s independence in 1948. Bordered by a sprawling recreational park with manicured lawns, it is a popular attraction among families, friends and the keen joggers who spend their time at leisure. The Arcade is located a hop away from the Independence Square. At the Arcade you could either shop till you drop or grab a bite at one of the many restaurants.

The Gangaramaya Temple is one of the oldest and most important Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka. When you enter the temple, you will feel mental peace and tranquillity like you have never felt before.
Started by the scholar-monk Hikkaduwa Sri Sumangala Nayaka Thera, the temple has now been turned into an institute that manages learning centres that teach vocational skills to students from all around the world, free of cost.
If you are someone who loves antique pieces and have a thing for the Buddhist traditions, the Gangaramaya temple is the place for you.

Seema Malaka is a Buddhist temple in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The temple is mainly used for meditation and rest, rather than for worship.
