Itinerary

Day 1: Colombo/Negombo – Ella

Stop At: Nine Arches Bridge, Ella Sri Lanka
The bridge is also known as “the bridge of the sky” which derives from the visual experience. Wherever you stand underneath the bridge, you can see the sky through the nine arches. This 30-metre high, 90-metre long viaduct with dramatic high arches is a beautiful piece of architecture that enhances its setting as it crosses a narrow gorge between Ella and Demodara railway stations. The bridge, which is almost 100 years old, has been built with blocks of stone and cement without any strengthening iron or concrete. The giant arches take the bridge on a curved path to link to mountains. The Bridge was commissioned in 1921 under the British Government.

Stop At: Ravana Ella Falls, Ella-Wellawaya Road, Ella 90090 Sri Lanka
Touring the idyllic town of Ella would be incomplete if one misses out on experiencing the wonder of Ravana Falls. Renowned for being one of Sri Lanka’s widest waterfalls, this 82 ft. the cascading body of water is nestled within the Ravana Ella Wildlife Sanctuary and a further six km from the Ella Railway Station. While providing outstanding opportunities for a leisurely swim, adventure seekers will also find that climbing some of the rocks located nearby affords awe-inspiring vistas of both the falls as well as some of Ella’s treasured surroundings. Ravana falls is named after the demon King Ravana who according to traditional folklore is believed to have ruled Sri Lanka. It is a popular sightseeing attraction in Sri Lanka and currently ranks as one of the widest waterfalls in the country.

Stop At: Little Adam’s Peak, Passara Road, Ella 90090 Sri Lanka
Little Adams Peak is another astounding attraction located in Ella. It stands proudly around 1,140m above sea level. Atop the peak, you can witness the sun rising over the panoramic view. It’s magical. The experience makes you realize why Sri Lanka is known as “The Wonder of Asia.” Not to worry when climbing up to the summit as the trail is well marked with signs on either side. It takes about 45 minutes to reach the top but you should allocate more time since the picturesque view will definitely make you slow down your pace.

Day 2: Ella – Colombo/Negombo

Stop At: Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory, Badulla Road, Hela Halpe, Ella, Sri Lanka 90090, Sri Lanka
Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory was built in 1940 during the British rule. The factory was constructed in the cool climate, on 1230 meters. What makes a visit to this factory very interesting is the fact that visitors have the opportunity to see the entire process of making Ceylon tea. At the end of the visit, guides will take the visitors to a beautiful terrace where they will be able to taste the famous Sri Lankan tea and they will also present traditional teas to visitors, some special naturally flavored teas (the one with Jasmin and mango are truly divine) and their finest specialties such as silver and golden tips. Those teas are quite expensive and they tend to have a particulate taste.

Stop At: Flying Ravana Mega Zipline, 98 Adventures (Pvt) Ltd, Little Adams Peak Uva Greenland Estate, Ella – Passara Rd, Ella 90090, Sri Lanka
The Flying Ravana is Sri Lanka’s longest mega zip – line and South Asia’s second longest. Stretching for more than half a kilometer (approximately 550 meters), the zipline slides at 80kmph in between the lush green estates of Ella. This is Sri Lanka’s first ever Zip line where the cables are drawn from mini Adam’s peak down the hill giving you the opportunity to fly among the trees and mountains and experience the bird eye view of this gorgeous hills of this blessed island. It is exclusively designed for adventure enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies who prefer a not so ordinary hillside experience.

Stop At: Dowa Rajamaha Viharaya දෝව රජමහා විහාරය, A16, Bandarawela 90122, Sri Lanka
Dowa Raja Maha Viharaya lies few kilometres away from the Bandarawela town on the Bandarawela – Badulla Road. This temple is thought to be done by King Walagamba in the in first century BC. This is one of the many temples built by the king while taking refuge in the Uva province after an Indian invasion. The temple has gain popularity mainly due to its massive 38 feet Buddha Statue carved in the granite rock.
