This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Join Nalinka and her cook Kusum for a cooking class in their open style kitchen. Since Kusum does not speak any English Nalinka does a great job of explaining the ingredients, spices used and cooking process. During your 1-hour hands-on cooking class you will learn to knead the dough for the string hoppers and try your hand at using the noodle press to press out the dough in circles. Then while the string hoppers cook, cut the ingredients for the potato and tomato curry, coconut sambol or mallum and learn to cook them. Your cooking lesson will last about an hour before you join your host at her dining table to enjoy the meal Sri Lankan style, using your hands!
