This one hour tour takes you on a boat safari through the primitive depths of the mangrove marshes in Madu River. Traverse the dark and dangerous caverns formed by the thick mangrove forests; interspersed with bright open stretches of water. View the pots for catching prawn and shrimp left in some of the shallower areas of the river. Visit the old Buddhist temple on one of the islands that dot the river liberally. Stop by another of the islands; which are the source of the cinnamon industry of Sri Lanka. Purchase some fresh, high quality cinnamon to take home as a souvenir. Make sure to visit the outdoor fish massage parlor, where you can dangle your feet into a fenced part of the river to get treated by the massage fish.

Built by the Portuguese in the year 1588, Galle Fort was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. Situated by the ocean, this European architectural structure, today houses an eclectic mix of shops and quaint cafes. Add it to your must-visit list. Spend a day there strolling around the cobbled streets lined with chic boutiques, souvenir shops, gems and jewellery stores, and home decor shops.

The Maritime Museum in Galle functions under the Department of National Museums. This museum displays exhibits on the lives of all living beings in the marine environment, ranging from tiny single-cell life forms to the largest living being, the blue whale. It displays the habitats of all these beings, including mangroves, salty wetlands, sand dunes, beach, sea grass and coral, and the eco systems sustaining all these living creatures and their inter-relationships, impacting on the bio-diversity of the entire globe. This museum was almost totally destroyed by the tsunami of 26th December 2004. It was re-opened for public viewing on 18.05.2009.

Located west to Unawatuna, Jungle Beach is a pretty bay nestled in a forested area. It is one of the secret gems of Sri Lanka which has everything to make your holiday experience one of its kind. The place retains its pristine natural charm as it is not ventured by a large number of tourists throughout the year due to its secluded location. Jungle Beach offers a plethora of water sports such as snorkelling, scuba diving, swimming, boat ride and many more. The reefs jutting out of water a few metres offshore make a good site for snorkelling which introduces you to the exotic marine life of the region.
