Stop At: Dambulla Royal Cave Temple, Kandy – Jaffna Highway, Dambulla 21100 Sri Lanka

This cave temple is a popular attraction of Sri Lanka and is quiet known amongst the locals. There are about 80 documented caves surrounding this place and you can are very unique and different in their own way. There are five major caves that you must take a look at. These caves are filled with statues and paintings. These paintings are mostly of the great Gautama Buddha, Vishnu and Ganesh. Locally, it is also renowned as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, with rock structures towering up to a height of 150 metres, overlooking the surrounding plains. It was dedicated as a World Heritage Site in 1991, by UNESCO. Throughout the ages, the temple cave has undergone various modern constructions and maintenance undertakings, so that tourists do not miss out on exploring every nook and cranny of this mesmerizing and captivating attraction. Visitors should not miss the chance of exploring history like never before by visiting the Dambulla Cave Temple.

It is also known as the pink quartz mountain of asia as according to the archeological researchers the pink quartz was found in enormous amount at this place.It is a centre that preserves almost 120 species of tropical plants and trees out if which 58 are the medicinal herbs and plants that are used often for making the medicines.It also serves as a home for 18 species of birds and some mammals like deer, monkey, elephants, leopard and many more. Another best part of the forest is the natural water that comes from the pink quarts mountain and serves the plants of forest there is a small but beautiful waterfall at the entrance of this botanical garden.around 60 acres of the land is dedicated to the ancient historical things like you can enjoy seeing the various inscriptions,bodhigara,the statues and stupas from the reign of king Devanampiyathissa to the reign of king IV Dappula small huts that looks credible are also a part of this place.

The shortest-lived but the most extraordinary of all Sri Lanka’s medieval capitals, Sigiriya (“Lion Rock”) was declared a World Heritage Site in 1982 and is the country’s most memorable single attraction – a remarkable archeological site made unforgettable by its dramatic setting. The ruins of the former Sinhalese capital was built by King Kassapa I. During the 11 years of staying in Sigiriya, Kassapa transformed the rock into a magnificent complex. Royal Pleasure Gardens Water Gardens, Fountain Gardens, and Boulder Gardens can be found within its inner city. Sigiriya Rock Paintings or Frescoes of Sigiri Damsels called “Sigiri Asparas” locally remained to be that part of Sigiriya that keeps visitors stunned. One more interesting construction is the Mirror Wall which is a graffiti written by all the people who visited Sigiriya from the 7th to the 10th centuries AD.
