Itinerary

Day 1: Colombo – Ella

Stop At: Ella Rock, Ella Main Street NECS-Nature Exploration and Conservation Society Sri Lanka, Ella 90090 Sri Lanka
Ella is pure natural beauty, with its waterfalls, greenery, and hills it is just jaw-dropping. It has views that one hasn’t witnessed before, scenes one hasn’t seen before and nature one hasn’t felt before. Ella is the perfect place to go to if one wants to refresh the brain. Ella Rock is a famous cliff, located high above Ella’s village, roughly a two hours strenuous trek from the center of town. The rock offers stunning views across the hill country, and the plains below. One of Ella’s wonders is the Ella Rock. Ella rock might be a long way up but it’s worth all the struggle. Every day, tons and tons of people go and climb the Ella Rock. This is because of the special view it provides to its climber. The view from the top of the Ella Rock is difficult to put in such simple words.

The Ravana Ella Caves is a legendary historical site. Situated on a cliff close to Ella it is 4,950 feet above sea level. This cave consists of a part of the tunnel which is connected to the Ravana Ella Falls. Tales say that King Rama of India had a beautiful wife Queen Sita.
King Ravana kidnapped Queen Sita and brought her to Sri Lanka confining her to these caves. These tunnels gave ample access to quick and undisputed travel and were the perfect gateway for King Ravana. The myth and reality of this epic story revolved around Ella. Away from the myth of reality of this story, the cave indeed has a wonderful experience behind its existence and is known by the locals as the “Rawana Guhawa”. It is an experience that you will cherish. Once inside the cave, it is as if you are transported to the time when Queen Sita was held captive within its historic walls.

Another wonder of Ella is its waterfalls. Ravana falls is a very popular waterfall. The refreshing and clean water that slide down on earth. It is one of the most popular sites in Sri Lanka. However, this panorama is just so attractive. People from all around the world come to visit this place because of its natural beauty and its beautiful outlook. In the misty mountains of tropical Sri Lanka, the wide Ravana falls gushes down a height of 82 feet falling from an oval concave rock. It takes the form of a drooping areca flower during the peak season of its water flow, but its size is reduced dramatically during the dry season.

Day 2: Ella – Colombo

Stop At: Little Adam’s Peak, Passara Road, Ella 90090 Sri Lanka
If you want to enjoy some of the best views without needing to hike for hours, Little Adam’s Peak is the perfect trek. Little Adam’s Peak attracts many travelers who come to Sri Lanka. Gradually with an easy hike up to the mountain of Little Adams Peak you can consummation a worth panoramic view. You have to walk through lush green tea plantations, waterfalls and paddy fields while enjoying the sceneries. It will be priceless if you could visit the place in the morning when the clouds roll in. Further places like Little Adams Peak deliberates ‘How far Sri Lanka is worth and rich with beautiful natural destinations of Sri Lankan tourism’. It will feel like a neck exercise for the visitors as you have to rotate your body to seek the views outstanding for 360 degrees.

Stop At: Nine Arches Bridge, Ella Sri Lanka
The glorious Nine Arch Bridge between Ella and Demodara station is one of the engineering marvels in the early 20th century. This bridge, which is almost 100 years old, has been built with blocks of stone and cement without any strengthening iron or concrete. The giant arches take the bridge on a curved path to link to mountains. The Bridge was commissioned in 1921 under the British Government. One of the highlights in the mountain village Ella is the 30-meter high Demodara Nine Arch Bridge. With a small 30-minute walk through the jungle, you will reach a piece of beautiful architecture that is hidden between lush green tea fields. The stone train bridge, built by the British, with its nine beautiful arches, is located between Ella and Demodara station.

Stop At: Demodara Loop, Demodara, Ella 90090 Sri Lanka
Demodara loop, the spiral railway is recognized as one of the most fascinating civil engineering marvels in Sri Lanka. The Demodara Loop is where the track passes under itself, going around the loop and emerges from the no 42 tunnel. The Loop is 441 feet long. The station is situated exactly over the tunnel. Also that’s the centre of the crossing point of the loop. This type of loop is known as the ’spiral loop’ or ’circular loop’. It is also known as ‘Demodara looping the loop’. It is considered the only loop in the world with a railway station situated exactly over a tunnel at spiral loop. Among the better known loops are the Septemvri-Dobrinishte two tunnel loop in Bulgaria and the one tunnel Tehachapi Loop in California.
