Hikkaduwa Trip Overview
The guided tour of the Foundation of Goodness is a great way to learn about the real experiences of rural Sri Lankans and all the work that goes into developing and uplifting a community to bridge the rural and urban gap, as well as the unique story of how the organization was able to rebuild both itself and the village in the devastating aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami which decimated the entire region.
The tour will take you through our empowerment sectors including the Women’s Enterprise Centre, IT Centre, Business Skills & Language Training Centre, Pre-school and the medical and dental clinics, all operated free of cost. Then we will proceed to our Dive for Good – Scuba Diving Centre and Sports Academy to learn more about the support we have received from cricketing celebrities and other big names in international sports towards building this model of empowerment which has now been replicated island-wide, reaching 28,000 beneficiaries from 400+ villages every year.
