Itinerary

Day 1: JOIN THE TOUR IN COLOMBO / AIRPORT PICK-UP

Welcome to Sri Lanka, the wonder of Asia and 12 days of explorations with a local expert will give you the opportunity to touch the UNESCO world heritage sites and unique Sri Lankan culture, the lush green tea estates and waterfalls in the hills, the best wildlife parks and exciting adventures, beautiful soft sandy beaches.

Stop At: Negombo Beach, Negombo Sri Lanka
Upon arrival at Colombo CMB airport, you will meet and greet by the tour leader and will be transferred to your hotel. (Alternatively, can be pick-up from any hotel in Colombo Or Negombo) The first destination will be Negombo coastal town, which has long been known as the most popular beach in Sri Lanka, famous for its golden sandy beach, food and fun. For day one, we haven’t planned any activity, thus you are free to arrive in Sri Lanka at any time. If your flight arrives early in the day, relax on the beach and pool of your cozy hotel.

Day 2: CULTURAL VILLAGE TOUR / SIGIRIYA ROCK FORTRESS

Stop At: Kurunegala, Kurunegala, North Western Province
After enjoying a delicious breakfast with a hot cup of Sri Lankan tea or a coffee, you will take a wonderful journey across the stunning Sri Lankan countryside towards Dambulla city, which is the central point of the cultural triangle on the island. En-route you’ll visit Elephant Rock Temple and Kurunegala Lake.

Stop At: Habarana Lake, Habarana Sri Lanka
Next: Upon arrival at Dambulla, you’ll enjoy a wonderful cultural village tour while exploring the beautiful countryside (ADMISSION FEES INCLUDED). It will start with a Bullock Cart ride, one of the most ancient and prime transportation systems in Sri Lanka, still used in some villages. While on the tour you will enjoy a canoeing boat ride across the lake and a pleasant TukTuk ride before reaching the farmer’s house where you will experience the typical Sri Lankan countryside hospitality.

Stop At: Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress, Sigiriya 21120 Sri Lanka
Afternoon, you will visit the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress (UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE), since it is the best time to capture the beautiful scenery of sunset. King Kasyapa (477 – 495 BC) built his palace on the top of this rock and decorated its sides with colourful frescoes. Sigiriya refuses to reveal its secrets easily; in fact, you have to climb a series of vertiginous staircases to reach the top. On the way up, you’ll pass quite remarkable frescoes and a pair of colossal lion paws carved into the bedrock.

Day 3: KINGDOM OF POLONNARUWA / PIDURANGALA ROCK HIKE

Stop At: Polonnaruwa Sri Lanka
In the morning you will visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. In 1070 King Vijayabahu chose this place as his kingdom, one of the most ancient in the history of Sri Lanka (UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE). Cycling in Polonnaruwa ancient city would be a wonderful experience.

Stop At: Pidurangala Royal Cave Temple, Dambulla Sri Lanka
Afternoon: Visit Pidurangala Forest Monastery (the time may vary or the activity may be cancelled depending on weather conditions). This location is perfect for those who prefer a non-touristic experience; also, this might be a rare opportunity to explore the hidden beauty of Sri Lanka. If you had enough of overcrowded spots and noises, this is your ideal destination. Climbing Pidurangala rock is a bit challenging, there is no clear path to the top: steep paths and uneven steps give way to an expanse of boulders and crevices that climbers must navigate in order to reach the summit. Make sure you have mosquito spray if bites trouble you.

Day 4: CAVE TEMPLE / SPICE GARDEN / HISTORICAL KANDY CITY

Stop At: Dambulla Royal Cave Temple, Kandy – Jaffna Highway, Dambulla 21100 Sri Lanka
After breakfast, visit Dambulla Rock Temple (UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE). Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. It has been treasured by many kings since the 1st century B.C. The rock towers 160m over the surrounding plains and houses 5 cave temples with some of the most unique and significant historical drawings. The murals cover an area of 2100 square metres and depict the temptation of the demon Mara and Buddha’s first sermon.

Thereafter, proceed towards Kandy, the capital of the last Sinhalese kingdom. It’s set on a plateau surrounded by mountains, which are home to tea plantations and biodiverse rainforests. Kandy is also famous for its sacred Buddhist sites, including the Temple of the Tooth Relic (UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE).

Day 5: BOTANICAL GARDEN / KITULGALA FOREST ADVENTURES

Stop At: Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya Road, Peradeniya 20400 Sri Lanka
After breakfast, visit Peradeniya Botanical Garden, one of the best botanical gardens in Asia. Stop At: Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya attracts 2 million visitors annually. It is renowned for its collection of orchids. The garden includes more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. The total area of the botanical garden is 147 acres.

Thereafter, proceed to Kitulgala Village, which is a major ecotourism venue in Sri Lanka. It is a real paradise for those who love adventures. Upon arrival experience White Water Rafting in the picturesque Kelani River. This activity is for anyone above the age of 10 years with safety gear, modern rafts, and a comprehensive safety briefing will be given by our white water rafting instructors beforehand. The river and its surrounding will make you feel enchanted, with a memorable experience during your White Water Rafting Tour in Kitulagala. Afterwards, trek to natural rock pools which is extremely beautiful and a gift of nature where you will be able to experience sliding down an inclined 05-meter waterfall with safety gear into the rock pool. Day 6: HILL-COUNTRY TEA PLANTATIONS AND WATERFALLS

Stop At: St Clair’s Falls, Hatton-Talawakele Highway, Talawakele, Nuwara Eliya 22200 Sri Lanka
After breakfast, You’ll be heading to Nuwara Eliya. En-route stop at St Clair’s Falls is situated 6 km (3.7 mi) west of Talawakele, on the A7 highway. The falls is named after a pioneer English tea planter called Clair, whose plantation was situated nearby the falls. The falls are formed by Kothmale Oya, a tributary of the Mahaweli River.

Stop At: Pedro Tea Factory, Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka
Next: Visit the Pedro tea plantation (ADMISSION FEES INCLUDED). Sri Lanka, tea and tourism are words that cannot be separated. Explore the cold and misty hills that host lush green blankets of tea plantations. Step into the tea factory where processing the prestigious brand of Ceylon Tea, to observe a rich tradition kept alive up to date. As you see the hissing and swishing of machines, inhaling the heavenly scent arising from these facilities, make sure to end your tea state in style over a perfectly blended cup of pure Ceylon Tea.

Afternoon, you’ll visit Nuwara Eliya City, is often referred to as “Little England” because many of the buildings in this city retain from the British colonial period, such as the Queen’s Cottage, the General’s House, the Grand Hotel, the Hill Club and the Town Post Office. Since this amazing town is located in the mountains, it’s characterized by a cool climate all year long.

Day 7: TRAIN JOURNEY INTO THE MOUNTAINS / ELLA VILLAGE

Stop At: Nanu Oya railway station, Avissawella – Hatton – Nuwara Eliya Hwy, Nuwara Eliya 22200 Sri Lanka
In the morning, takes a train journey from Nanu-Oya station to Ella village (Ticket will be arranged at the station / Class category is subject to availability). It is known as one of the most picturesque hill country train journeys in the world.

Next: Ella Village, is everyone’s favourite hill country village due to the fact that it’s a wonderful nature-friendly location. The Nine Arch Bridge, a major tourist attraction in Ella, is a massive bridge built entirely of solid rocks, bricks and cement without using a single piece of steel. Ella is an excellent place for walking and climbing and its most famous trekking route is “Mini Adam’s Peak”.

Day 8: RAVANA WATERFALL / YALA NATIONAL PARK

Stop At: Ravana Ella Falls, Ella-Wellawaya Road, Ella 90090 Sri Lanka
After breakfast, depart from Ella towards Yala National Park (OPTIONAL: Early morning trekking to Ella Rock). En-route stop at Ravana waterfall, one of the most popular sightseeing attractions in Ella. It currently ranks as one of the longest falls in the country; in fact, this waterfall measures approximately 25 m (82 ft).

Thereafter, you’ll be heading towards Yala National Park, the largest and most stunning national park in Sri Lanka. Thanks to a river running through it, Yala National Park is divided into two sections. Because the river makes crossing to the other side difficult, Yala is really treated as two separate parks. But that doesn’t change the fantastic offerings! Encompassing a range of diverse ecosystems, the park has an impressive variety of wildlife, including sloth bears, leopards and lots of colourful birds. Enjoy a 4×4 jeep ride searching for leopards hanging on trees or whispering through the bushes, crocodiles patrolling the river or wild elephants drinking water and playing around under the evening sunset.

Day 9: TIME TO EXPLORE THE COASTAL SIDE / BEACH RELAX
