Stop At: Hindagala Temple, On the road from Peradeniya to Deltota, Peradeniya Sri Lanka
Hindagala is a typical cave temple from the Kandyan period. But there is something special about it. This is one of the very few places with original Anuradhapura-period temples.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Embekka Devalaya, Embekka Pilimatalawa Road, Kandy 20000 Sri Lanka
The Embekka Devalaya is famous for the island’s most excellent wood carvings from the Kandy period.

Stop At: Lankatilaka Temple, Gadaldeniya Rd, Kandy 20000 Sri Lanka
This is Sri Lanka’s most beautiful temple from the Gampola period, the impressive shrine room is decorated with murals from the Kandy period.

Stop At: Temple of the Gadaladenia, Kandy 20000 Sri Lanka
Visit the Gampola period temple with original medieval paintings and statues from the mid 14th century.

Stop At: Pilimathalawa, Pilimathalawa, Kandy District, Central Province
Visit the tea garden and the tea factory of Geragama and see the tea processing. You can taste a cup of tea and purchase packages of Kandyan tea, if you like.

Stop At: Danthure, Sri Lanka
Danthure is rarely visited. The village temple called Danthure Rajamaha Viharaya is actually only small and not spectacular. But it can be considered to be the best specimen of a typical type of temple of the Kandyan period, namely a shrine on stilts or more precisely: on stone boulders, protecting the wooden shrine from vermin and humidity.

The Vishnu shrine in Dodanwela once kept the crown of the Kandyan kings, which was the outcome of a vow given prior to a victoriuous battle against the Portuguese in the nearby Danthure. The Vishnu Devale of Dodanwela resembles the more famous one in Kandy.
