Day 1: Negombo/Colombo – Ella

Stop At: Lipton’s Seat, Haputale 90160 Sri Lanka
The Liptons seat lookout is one of the most amazing viewpoints I Sri Lanka. The Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton used to survey his burgeoning empire from here, and today it’s said you can see across emerald hills and tea estates to no fewer than seven different provinces. It’s not just the spectacular panoramic vistas that make Liptons Seat Sri Lanka one of the most famous viewpoints in central Sri Lanka. With an interesting history, scenic walks and the original Lipton Tea factory still in operation on the estate, a day trip to Lipton’s seat should be part of every Sri Lankan itinerary.

Stop At: Dhowa Rock Temple, Badulla Road, Badulla 90000 Sri Lanka
Located in the village of Dhowa on the Badulla – Bandarawela main road, the Dhowa Cave Temple Bandarawela is famous for the beautiful paintings and sculptures that adorn its rock walls. Located at the bottom of a hill and close to a picturesque stream, it is one of the major attractions in the Bandarawela area. The distance from Colombo is about 210 km to the east and approximately 120 km to the south of Kandy. It’s believed that the temple was more than 2000 years old which means that the temple was built before Christ.

Uva Halpewatte tea factory is the Largest Tea factory in the Uva Region. The tea factory offers guided tours and it is a learning process of Ceylon tea for anyone who visits the factory. The factory was a part of the British era and dates back to the 1940s.The Factory provides a range of Supreme quality tea by using latest manufacturing techniques. Your tour of the tea factory lasts for two hours beginning with a short lecture on the types of tea and the processing methods, which will go into the various stages and machinery in the actual working factory.

Day 2: Ella – Negombo/Colombo

Stop At: Nine Arches Bridge, Ella Sri Lanka
Nine Arches Bridge which is also known as the bridge in the Sky if an iconic bridge in Demodara Sri Lanka. It is part working railway viaduct, part tourist photo opportunity. This setting, beloved by thousands of Instagram accounts, somehow conveys the relaxed vibe that makes Sri Lanka one of the most treasured holiday destinations in the world.This 30-metre high, 90-metre long viaduct with dramatic high arches is a beautiful piece of architecture that enhances its setting as it crosses a narrow gorge between Ella and Demodara railway stations. Close by, the Demodara loop is also quite something, as the train coming from up-country enters a tunnel underneath Demodara rail station and then spirals around to cope with the vertical distance between two adjacent hills.

Stop At: Little Adam’s Peak, Passara Road, Ella 90090 Sri Lanka
The scenic hikes at Little Adams peak unveils lush landscapes and rewards you with sweeping views pf the mountain side. This hike is approximately 2 km and is not as tiring and challenging as the Ella rock. Walk along rustic footpaths sandwiched between tall grass and thorny bushes as the wind blow cold gusts in your faces every now and then. Covered in deep green vegetation that surroundings would stun you with the enormity of nature.

Located amidst the luscious green estate of Ella the Ravana Ella Zip Line is the Sri Lana’s’ first ever mega Zip line. The two-wire zip-line stretches for more than half a kilometer, slides at 80kmph and offers a bird’s-eye view of the beautiful hills of the island. It is exclusively designed for adventure enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies who prefer a not so ordinary hillside experience.

Ravana Falls is another must visit in Ella. Hill country of Sri Lanka is quite popular for beautiful waterfalls and Ravana Falls is right at the top.The falls are quite impressive, and you can climb over some of the rocks to get a closer look.If you love water and wanna have some splash time, enjoying some hours in the water fall, then this is the place in Ella. You can spend sometime swimming, but be safe as the rocks are slippery.
