What to Expect When Visiting Colombo, Western Province, Sri Lanka

Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up – Sinharaja

Stop At: Rain Forest Eco Lodge, Palavinna Estate,Dorekanda, Ratnapura, Sri Lanka
You will be Picked up from Colombo or any other beach destination in south west coast of Sri Lanka and driven to Sinharaja (approx. 3 hours’ drive)

On arrival at the Sinharaja, you will check in to the Rainforest eco lodge.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Sinharaja Forest Reserve, Ensalwaththa Road, Viharahena 81500 Sri Lanka
Late afternoon, your nature guide will take you on a memorable trekking tour in the Sinharaja rainforest which is one of the eight UNESCO World Heritage sites available in Sri Lanka. With so many species of endemic flora and fauna, Sinharaja will create a big opportunity to photograph some wonders nature creations.

Day 2: Sinharaja – Udawalawa – Yala

Stop At: Udawalawe National Park Sri Lanka
After Breakfast, you will be driven to Udawalawe (approx. 3 hours drive) where you will start a game drive at Udawalawe National Park which is one of the best homes for Asian Elephants. This will be another great photographic opportunity that is totally different to Sinharaja.
Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Grand Udawalawe Safari Resort, No. 912, B427, Udawalawa 70190, Sri Lanka
On completion of the Safari, You will enjoy your lunch at Grand Udawalawe Hotel and then drive to Yala National Park.

Day 3: Yala – Bundala – Yala

Stop At: Yala National Park, Yala National Park
Wake up at dawn around 5:00 am to freshly brewed Ceylon tea or coffee. Then leave on morning game drive at 5:30 am with your camera to photograph the thrilling adventure of Yala National park including roaming elephants and more leopards per area than anywhere else on the planet!
Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Leopard Nest – Glamping in Yala, Palatupana, Yala, Tissamaharama 82600, Sri Lanka
Return from morning game drive at 9-10am to freshly squeezed juices from seasonal fruits followed by breakfast.

After breakfast, you can relax and unwind by taking a nap in the hammock or checking books about wildlife in the library.

Stop At: Bundala National Park, A 2 Road .bundala Junction Hambantota, Weligatta 82000 Sri Lanka
After Lunch at the campsite, you will be taken to Bundala National Park which is an excellent choice for Bird watching and photography.
Duration: 3 hours

Day 4: Yala – Yala

Stop At: Nimalawa, Sri Lanka
Wake up around 5:00 am to freshly brewed Ceylon tea or coffee. Start to trek through thick bushes with a pathway access to a wonderful lake which offers breath-taking views and bird watching opportunities. This will lead you another photographic opportunity. If you are fortunate enough, you will encounter wildlife like elephants; Deers; palm squirrels; wild boars; etc. Also, you will confront both endemic and migratory birds; butterflies and lizards and land monitors slithering around the lake. Capture the splendid views of wildlife and nature to take back home. Don’t forget to ask your naturalist to share his adventures in the wild during the trek. Enjoy breakfast at a private location by a lake whilst listening to the singing of birds and feeling the fresh breeze.

Stop At: Palatupana, Palatupana, Yala National Park
After breakfast, you can explore the village and experience the village life in the surrounding area and arrive at the campsite for Lunch.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Yala National Park, Yala National Park
In the afternoon, you will start your game drive at Yala National Park to have another chance of photographing the Leopards.
Duration: 2 hours

Day 5: Yala – Colombo

Stop At: Colombo Fort, Galle Buck, Colombo Sri Lanka
After breakfast, you will be driven back to Colombo or your beach hotel situated in southwest coast.
