Stop At: Dambulla Royal Cave Temple, Kandy – Jaffna Highway, Dambulla 21100 Sri Lanka

The Golden Temple of Dambulla which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. Focused on a series of five cave shrines, Inhabited by forest-dwelling Buddhist monks, these natural caves have been transformed continuously throughout the historical period into one of the largest and most outstanding Buddhist complexes in Asia. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues, three statues of Sri Lankan kings and four statues of gods and goddesses. There are murals which cover an area of 2,100 square meters. The site is remarkable in the Buddhist world for its association with the continuous tradition of living Buddhist ritual practices and pilgrimage for more than two millennia.

Pidurangala Rock is adjacent to Sigiriya Rock and is the best viewing spot of Sigiriya Rock as it is only slightly lower. Pidurangala is a popular spot for sunrise as you can enjoy 360-degree views of not only the valleys but also Sigiriya Rock. At the base of Pidurangala Rock, you will find Pidurangala Sigiri Rajamaha Viharaya, which is a white temple. From the peak, watch the stunning sunrise from this rock-top viewpoint, with panoramic vistas over Sigiriya in the distance. Stare in awe as the sun lights up the misty forests, lakes and villages, showering the vast central Sri Lankan landscapes in golden hues. The feeling of peace from the top of Pidurangala during sunrise is palpable – silence is only broken by the chirp of birds, and the clatter of village life below.

Minneriya Jeep Safari is a one of the most popular activity among travelers who visit Sri Lanka. Minneriya National Park is a wildlife sanctuary located in the North Central province of Sri Lanka. Nature lovers on Minneriya Jeep Safari often spot large number of Sri Lankan Elephants gathering around to grass fields on the edges of the reservoir during the dry season.
