Itinerary
Day 1: Negombo > Sigiriya
Stop At: Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress, Sigiriya 21120 Sri Lanka
Sigiriya is famous for its outstanding “Lion Rock”. This rock is not only a Rock, but used to be a fortress site. You can walk up to the top of the Lion Rock and see the Ruins of the fortress as well as the old city. Sigiriya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and definitely a must-see if you visit Sri Lanka.

Stop At: Dambulla Royal Cave Temple, Kandy – Jaffna Highway, Dambulla 21100 Sri Lanka
Then, after heading north, we will visit the stunning Dambulla Cave temple. This Temple contains of 5 different Caves, which contain some of Sri Lankas most important religious Art. The oldest statues and drawings are around 2000 years old. From the caves, which are located around 150m above the Road, you have a stunning views and can even see Sigiriya from up there, where will stay for another night since we are going back to Sigiriya after Dambulla.

Explore the rural village of Hiriwadunna Traveling by jeep safari into the Sri Lankan countryside, the tour begins with a beautiful trek to a man made reservoir. After a boat ride, hop into a bullock cart alongside paddy fields and rural vegetable plantations to a traditional village house, Hop into a boat and sail to the other side of a lake. look out for birds, butterflies, and perhaps even a crocodile as well as the villagers fishing or washing clothes at the periphery of the lake. where you will enjoy an authentic Sri Lankan lunch.

Day 2: Sigiriya > Dambulla > Kandy
Stop At: Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Sri Dalada Veediya, Kandy 20000 Sri Lanka
Located in the appropriately-named-to-Western-ears town of Kandy in Sri Lanka, the Temple of the Tooth offers some sweet Eastern architecture surrounding a religious relic.
As the legend goes, the Buddha’s tooth was given to the Sri Lankan monarchy in ancient times, and was passed around through various kings and holy men who hid, moved, and relocated the tooth a number of times across the centuries. Now the tooth is housed in a dedicated temple where worshipers can visit the relic, which is held in a golden stupa inside the two-story shrine. Although parts of the shrine were destroyed and rebuilt over the years in various bombings and acts of war, the building still retains its opulent style of gold and moonstone, surrounded by Buddhist carvings and offerings. This piece of peace may be small, but the Temple of the Tooth makes it seem as important as the Buddha himself.

Sri Lanka, a country rich with culture & tradition, offers a vibrant performance of Sri Lankan traditional dances. Kandyan dance encompasses various dance forms popular and native to the area called Kandy of the Central hills region known as Udarata in Sri Lanka. But today it has been widespread to other parts of the country.

Continue our Journey through the town of Kandy to Nuwara Eliya we can visit the famous Botanical Garden very close to Kandy. This is one of the most impressive and largest botanical gardens in Sri Lanka with not only a lot of different and gorgeous plants, but also a huge amount of birds and monkeys playing around in the trees. This garden in one of Lonely Planets top choices. The botanical garden of Peradeniya, renowned for its orchid collection. The garden is home to more than 4,000 species of plants, including of orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees.

Stop At: Bahirawakanda Vihara Buddha Statue, Bahirawa Kanda Rd, Kandy, Sri Lanka
Bahirawakanda Temple. The temple’s omnipresent 80-foot (24-meter) high Buddha statue can be seen from everywhere in Kandy. The temple was built on the “Bahirawa Kanda,” also known as the “Gnome Mountain.” There are a variety of legends about this mountain, all dealing with the sacrifice of beautiful virgins.

Day 3: Kandy > Nuwara Eliya
Stop At: Gregory Lake, Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka
This lake was built during the British ruling in India by Sir William Gregory. The purpose of building this lake is believed to be to generate electricity for the City. It is mainly used for water sports and other recreational activities by locals and tourists alike. It sees the most crowds in the month of April due to the festivities and holidays. Races like Nuwara Eliya Road race and the Lake cross on the bank of Lake Gregory attracts many enthusiasts.

Stop At: Nuwara Eliya Golf Course, Grand Hotel Road, Nuwara Eliya 22200 Sri Lanka
The course was built by a Scottish officer for the British officials who were posted here at Nuwara Eliya. Situated at the foot of Mountains – Piduruthalagala (Mount Pedro), The Great Western and Hakgala; surrounded by scenic tea gardens, the course is an 18 hole, 607 yard and par 70 layout. The club has 2000 members currently. It is the only Course that has all the holes visible from the Club house, and is accessible by car.

Stop At: Victoria Park of Nuwara Eliya, A5, Nuwara Eliya 22200 Sri Lanka
The Park was named after the Queen to comrade the 60th Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897. The park is spread across 27 acres of land, and is home to numerous species of trees and plants. Adding beauty to it are various lakes that pass through this park. One can spot rare species of birds in this park like – Indian Blue Robin, Pled Thrush or Scaly Thrush, and Kashmir Flycatcher.

Stop At: Pedro Tea Factory, Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka
This tea factory is closest to the town, compared to the other tea factories. Tea produced here is popular all over the world, and is one of high priced as well. An half an hour tour is provided at this tea factory at Nuwara Eliya. The Pedro tea estate is located in Central Sri Lanka at close proximity to Nuwara Eliya and is located on a landscape with the blue sky as the background with green pastures of tea and water falls cascading, which is a sight never to be missed.

Day 4: Nuwara Eliya > Ella
Stop At: Nine Arches Bridge, Ella Sri Lanka
We going to visit the famous and beautiful Nine Arch bridge close to Ella which is a famous photo location. You can take your time and take some photos if you want. Otherwise we just enjoy the view. Situated between the two railway stations of Ella and Demodara, is a viaduct which was built during the British Colonial period and is the largest viaduct in Sri Lanka. The bridge was built in 1921 with only stones, bricks and cement and without making use of any steel and is considered an Engineering marvel in Sri Lanka’s history. This bridge stands at almost 100 feet and has nine arches, hence the name Nice Arch Bridge. Locals say that when you stand underneath the bridge and look up at the sky, you will see nine skies through its nine arches and hence it is also known as “Ahas namaye palama” in Sinhalese language which means Nine Skies Bridge.

Stop At: Ravana Ella Falls, Ella-Wellawaya Road, Ella 90090 Sri Lanka
Situated right in between the most scenic setting close to the town of Ella on the Bandarawela – Wellawaya Road are the Ravana Ella Waterfalls. There are two waterfalls in this region, Upper Ravana Falls and the Lower Ravana Falls. Upper Ravana falls are not very popular among the tourist due to poor accessibility. The Lower Ravana Falls, which fall over 9 meters, are of one of the most visited waterfalls in the country due to its easy accessibility and attractive surroundings. The best time to witness the falls in its full force would be during the monsoon or right after it.

Stop At: Ella Rock, Ella Main Street NECS-Nature Exploration and Conservation Society Sri Lanka, Ella 90090 Sri Lanka
Ella Rock is a cliff located near the town of Ella in Sri Lanka. Visitors wanting to visit Ella Rock must keep in mind that this trek is about 8 kilometers and is strenuous. Start your hike along the railways lines, passing through country-side tea plantations, where you can meet locals; follow the marked path and you will reach the top of the cliff and where you will witness a breath-taking view of the lush-green valley. The hike will take you around 3 to 4 hours depending on your speed and fitness level.

Day 5: Ella > Mirissa > Negombo
Stop At: Mirissa Beach, Mirissa 81740 Sri Lanka
Mirissa is a small heaven located in the South Coast of Sri Lanka, only about 200km away from the Equator. The small town is ever-famous for it’s natural beaches which are mostly untouched by any man-made modernization, which makes it well-loved and very sought after when it comes to holidays and vacations. Mirissa’s sandy beaches gives life to your fantasies of a tropical heaven, the secluded crescent shaped beach is like a reclusive hidden Island that is a hideaway for many. The town’s sunsets and sunrises are said to be one of the finest ever, the peace that surrounds people spending time in the hotels set aback from the actual beach is quiet unmeasured. The gentle waves of the ocean crashing and building into a crescendo, coconuts falling and birds chirping. Mirissa is a tourist heaven and must not be missed!
