The Madu Ganga is a shallow water body in south-west Sri Lanka, which enters the sea at Balapitiya. Madu River, home to endearing mountains; a cinnamon plantation where you can buy cinnamon oil, sticks and powder; a fish farm where you can feed fish and hold a baby alligator; and sip on a tender coconut bought from an islander. You can also see 46 species of birds reside in the area including 14 aquatic varieties. You will also spot huge water lilies and colourful butterflies. Fish spa therapy is a natural foot massage from hundreds of fish.Sitting on a pier, you only have to plunge your feet into the water. Fish soon nibble away the callused epidermis, only the dead scarf-skin of your feet. You should keep your feet in the fish spa for at least 10 minutes.

The Galle Fort, also known as the Dutch Fort or the “Ramparts of Galle”, withstood the Boxing Day tsunami which damaged part of coastal area Galle town. It has been since restored. Its mention as a “port of call of the Levant” is made in the cosmography of Cosmas Indicopleustes.
