Stop At: Stilt Fishermen Sri Lanka, Koggala Sri Lanka
Stilt fishing is a method of fishing unique to the island country of Sri Lanka, located off the coast of India in the Indian Ocean. The fishermen sit on a cross bar called a petta tied to a vertical pole and driven into the sand a few meters offshore.

Take a magical speed-boat ride down the beautiful Madu River, a wetland estuary spreading over 900 hectares of which 770 hectares is covered with water and inhabited with 64 islands. The boat ride is a wonderful way to take a closer look at this complex wetland ecosystem; a world heritage site protected by the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands being one of the last wetlands in Sri Lanka to contain a pristine mangrove forest.

Kosgoda Turtle Conservation and Research Center is the largest turtle protecting center in Kosgoda and also in Sri Lanka. It has a large tank and wide beach area. The sea turtle does not have teeth but has a sharp jaw with modified ‘beaks’ that helps them eat.
